Kim Misses Round of 64 at U.S. Amateur

CHERRY HILLS VILLAGE, Colo. – Boise State University senior men’s golfer Taeksoo Kim carded a second-round 75 (+4) at the Cherry Hills Country Club Tuesday, falling short of the match-play portion of the 112th U.S. Amateur Championship.
After two rounds of stroke play, the top 64 individuals in the 311-player field move on to match-play at the championship tournament.
With a 36-hole total of 147 (+6), Kim finished just four strokes back of the cut. Kim posted a 2-over 72 at the CommonGround Golf Course, Monday.
Kim received an invitation to the tournament Saturday after initially qualifying as an alternate.
The U.S. Amateur Championship is the oldest golf championship in the nation, and is the most coveted of all of golf’s amateur titles. The Havemeyer Cup, awarded to the winner of the amateur champion, has been won by Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer and Tiger Woods, among many others in the tournament’s 112-year history.
