BOISE, Idaho – Boise State Head Football Coach Chris Petersen announced the signing of 21 student-athletes to National Letters of Intent Wednesday (Feb. 6), bringing the total number of new Broncos for the 2013 class to 28.
Seven student-athletes enrolled in classes in January 2013.  They include junior college transfers Deuce Mataele (DT - Mt. San Antonio College); Cleshawn Page (CB - LA Harbor College); Tyler Rausa (K - Riverside CC) and Derrick Thomas (RB - Butler CC), along with three who previously signed with Boise State before delaying their enrollment.
They include D.J. Dean (WR - Eagle, Idaho) and Archie Lewis (OL - Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.) who signed with the Broncos in February 2012 and gray shirted this past football season, and Darren Lee (LB – Susanville, Calif.) who signed with Boise State in 2010 before going on a two-year church mission.
The state of California once again produced the most new Broncos with 13.  Idaho high schools produced the second-most signees to the 2013 class with four, along with three from the state of Texas.  Two each are coming from the states of Arizona and Utah.  Florida, Hawai’i, Oregon and American Samoa each have one.
For the second-straight year, defensive players led the group with 16.  Breaking the defense group down by position, they include five cornerbacks, four linebackers, three tackles, three ends and one safety.
Wide receivers and linemen led the positions on offense with three each.  Two running backs and two tight ends, along with one quarterback make up the rest of the offensive players.
Boise State is coming off an 11-2 season in 2012 and finished the regular season as co-champions of the Mountain West Conference.  The defeated the University of Washington in the MAACO Bowl Las Vegas and was ranked No. 14 in the final USA Today Coaches poll and No. 18 in the final Associated Press media poll.
The Broncos open the 2013 season on Aug. 31 (Saturday) at Washington.
