Denver Rallies to Down Broncos

DENVER - Boise State women's tennis suffered its first loss of the season in a 5-2 setback to No. 69 Denver Friday, at Denver Country Club. The Broncos (1-1) took the doubles point but the Pioneers (3-1) responded with five singles wins, including the top three spots.
Senior Bobbi Oshiro scratched out the Broncos' lone singles win, taking a 7-5, 6-7, 6-2 decision on court four.
Oshiro also won in doubles, teaming with Arianna Paules Aldrey for a 6-4 victory at the No. 2 position. Hanna Kantenwein and Megan LaLone won on court three to secure the point.
With three courts available, the top three matches got singles started. Denver took each of them in straight sets. On court one, Teal Vosburgh battled with nationally-ranked Julia O'Loughlin, but eventually No. 62 O'Loughlin emerged 7-5, 7-5.
Denver's Maureen Slattery was first off with a 6-0, 6-1 win against Paules Aldrey. Kantenwein suffered the first defeat of her collegiate career 7-6, 6-3, against Boise native Bianca Mok as the Pioneer's extended their lead to 3-1.
Boise State took the next two first sets with Oshiro and Nancy Menjivar building leads. As they were forced to a third set, Megan LaLone fell in two on court five, 6-3, 6-2 for the clinching point. Oshiro and Toseva played out their matches with Oshiro claiming victory before Menjivar dropped her last two sets.
The Broncos conclude their road trip Sunday at Colorado. The match begins at 11 a.m. from the Rocky Mountain Tennis Center.
