KENT, Ohio - Sierra Nobley and Jaymee-Lee Bulda both recorded double-doubles Friday night to lead Boise State to a sweep 25-19, 25-17, 25-20 over Kent State. Boise State rarely trailed in the match with KSU and used a balanced attack with three Broncos reaching double-figure kills, led by Nobley's 15, to control the contest throughout.

The sweep was the second of the day following a 3-0 win over Wright State Friday morning, it also gave the Broncos the championship of the Golden Flashes Classic in Kent, Ohio. Nobley was named the Golden Flashes Classic MVP and was joined on the all-tournament team by Kaitlyn Oliver and Maddi Osburn.

Boise State is now 3-2 overall heading into tomorrow's contest at Cleveland State which will be broadcast live on ESPN3 at 2 p.m. (Mountain).


"It was a terrific effort tonight versus a very scrappy Kent State team," head coach Shawn Garus said. "For the first time this season our serving was really on in this match which led to great team defense. Overall I'm pleased with our performance today, we had a strong day with two big wins and a tournament title."

It was Nobley's third double-double in five matches this season as she recorded a team-high 15 kills to go with 12 digs, one service ace, two assists and three block assists. On the night Nobley hit 38.7 percent and had a total of 17.5 points off her kills, aces and blocks.

Sophomore outside hitter Sabryn Roberts added 13.5 points with a season-high 12 kills along with five digs and three block assists. Kaitlyn Oliver hit a team-best 60 percent and had 13 points off 11 kills and four block assists.

Maddy O'Donnell chipped in with 9.5 points on seven kills and season-high five block assists. Janell Walley contributed five kills, two assists, seven digs and two block assists.

Jaymee-Lee Bulda recorded her first career double-double on 36 assists and 12 digs. Maddi Osburn led defensively with 17 digs.

Boise State finished the match hitting 32 percent as a team with 52 kills and 47 assists. The Broncos also had two service aces, 57 digs and nine blocks.

Kent State managed to hit only 16.8 percent against the Broncos with 37 kills on 37 assists. The Golden Flashes added two service aces, 47 digs and seven blocks to their totals on the night. Kelsey Bittinger led Kent State with 14 kills and seven digs.

Kent State opened the contest by taking a 6-3 lead in set one. Boise State responded with a 6-0 run to take a 9-6 lead. The Broncos led the rest of the way in the period capped by Sierra Nobley's sixth kill of the set for a 25-19 win.

Boise State led the entire way during set two and had a period-high 12 point 23-11 lead. After KSU attempted to rally pulling to within seven twice, the Broncos put the set away with a Janell Walley kill to record a 25-17 win and go up 2-0 in the match.

The Broncos trailed 3-1 early in the third set before turning it around with a 4-1 run to take a 6-4 lead. The set remained close throughout, but Boise State never trailed again and eventually put it away 25-20.
