FRESNO, Calif. - Boise State men's basketball scored 51 second-half points but could not erase an early 28-point deficit as Fresno State came away with an 89-80 win Saturday, in Fresno, Calif. The loss snaps a seven-game win streak for the Broncos (11-5, 4-1 MW) and is their first loss in Mountain West play.

Boise State missed its first 10 shots and started 2-for-18 from the floor as Fresno State (11-7, 3-3 MW) built a 38-10 lead in the first 13 minutes of the game. The Broncos cut the deficit to 14, but the Bulldogs finished the first half on a 10-2 run to take a 51-29 lead into the locker room.

Fresno State took a 70-49 lead with 7:54 to play before Boise State scored 31 points, including five three-pointers, and held the Bulldogs to one field goal the rest of the way. Fresno State shot 17-of-24 from the free throw line during the stretch to keep its distance from the charging Broncos.

James Reid scored a team-high 17 points. Reid has come off the bench to lead the Broncos in scoring in consecutive games.

Boise State returns home to host New Mexico (10-8, 3-3 MW) Tuesday (Jan. 17), at 9 p.m. MT. The game will be televised on ESPNU.
