RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. - Boise State closed its trip to Southern California with a ninth-place finish at the PRO Compression Invitational Tuesday afternoon. Senior Kyle Mitsunaga paced the quintet with a 1-under 71 in the final round, as the Broncos finished 35-over (899) for the tournament.

Mitsunaga's round was the highlight of Tuesday, as Boise State shot 15-over (303) as a team. Brian Humphreys finished his second round, which was suspended due to darkness Monday, at 2-over, and followed with a 78 (+6) in the final round, finishing the tournament tied for 12th at 1-over (217). Mason Schulze also shot a 78 in the final round, finishing the tournament 34th at 10-over, while Mitsunaga's rounds of 73 and 71 in the second and third rounds, respectively, brought him up to 12-over after an opening-round 84.

"Unfortunately, there wasn't much to get excited about today other than a nice round from Kyle. It was nice to see him back in the groove the last two rounds," said Boise State head coach Dan Potter. "We have a young group that is working hard and getting better each time out, but today we just didn't execute well."

Freshman Connor Johnstone closed with a 76 to finish the tournament at 13-over, and junior Donny Hopoi carded an 81 to finish with a three-round total of 251 (+35).

UC Santa Barbara took home the team title at 12-under (852), nine strokes ahead of runner-up Wichita State. Yannick Emmert of Wichita State claimed medalist honors, finishing at 13-under for a five-stroke win over Sacramento State's Aaron Beverly.

Out in St. George, Utah, at the Pizza Hut Pat Hicks Invitational, sophomore Connor Bell closed the final round with a 74 to finish the event a 2-under, good for a tie for eighth place. Jacob Byers also finished in the top 25, tying for 24th after shooting a 4-under 68 Tuesday to finish the event at 2-over. Tristan Rohrbaugh shot a 74 for the second-straight day to finish at 4-over.

Boise State will be back in action in two weeks, heading back to Southern California with a trip to Long Beach for the Del Walker Intercollegiate from Feb. 27-28.
