BOISE, Idaho - Boise State women's tennis got back on track Friday, with a 7-0 sweep of Lewis-Clark State at the Boas Indoor Tennis Center. The Broncos (6-2) rolled to the doubles point and quickly added six singles victories, including five in straight sets.
"We learned a good lesson on the road at BYU," said head coach Beck Roghaar. "To bounce back the way we did tonight was important for us. We prepared really well all week and that's one of the main things we've talked about. We're going to win matches based on what we do Monday through Thursday."
Nancy Menjivar received the Bronco Bandanna, signifying the player of the match. Menjivar clinched the match victory with a 6-1, 6-0 win at the No. 3 singles position. She also teamed with Kirsty Venter at No. 3 doubles for a 6-1 win and the clinching victory in doubles action.
"Nancy has been stepping up," said Roghaar. "She's been working so hard in practice and training, setting the tone for our younger players. She hasn't felt perfect in a few of the matches and she's out there doing something about it during the week. I have a lot of respect for that and I know the rest of the team does too."
Lilian Poling, Anja Dokic, Jovana Kuljanin and Venter also notched victories in both doubles and singles. In singles, Dokic rallied from a first-set loss to win 4-6, 6-1, 10-7.
Boise State returns to action Saturday, against Montana State. The match begins at 2 p.m. MT, at the Boas Indoor Tennis Center.
