THE MATCHES: Boise State women's tennis welcomes Denver and Oregon to the Boas Indoor Tennis Center this weekend. The Broncos (7-2) host the Pioneers (5-3) Friday, at 5 p.m. MT and the Ducks (5-4) Sunday, at 11 a.m. MT. The two visiting teams will also square off Saturday, at 11 a.m. MT.
ABOUT DENVER: The Pioneers enter the weekend with a 5-3 overall record boasting wins against Colorado and BYU, the only teams to knock off Boise State this season. Bianca Mok is Denver's top singles player and ranked No. 96 nationally. Mok, a graduate of Boise High School, advanced to the semifinals of the 2016 ITA Intermountain Regional Championship in the fall and was the Summit League Newcomer of the Year last spring as a freshman. Denver also brings the No. 11 ranked doubles pair in Julia O'Loughlin and Maureen Slattery.
ABOUT OREGON: The Ducks have won their last two matches to improve to 5-4 on the season, but are 0-3 in true road matches. The Broncos and Ducks have two common opponents so far, both earning wins over Portland and Eastern Washington. Oregon swept last year's meeting 7-0, in Eugene.
LAST TIME OUT: The Broncos returned to familiar territory last week: the Boas Indoor Tennis Center and the win column. Boise State won two matches over the weekend, sweeping Lewis-Clark State and rallying for a 4-3 win against Montana State. Friday, against the Warriors, Boise State rolled to the doubles point and quickly added six singles victories, including five in straight sets. Freshman Lilian Poling earned the player of the match Saturday, helping the Broncos dig out of an early hole after losing the doubles point to the Bobcats. Poling made quick work of her singles match at the No. 2 position, winning 6-2, 6-0 and getting Boise State on the board. The Broncos would pick up wins at each of the top four singles spots for the narrow victory.
EARLY HOME STAND COMING TO A CLOSE: Boise State's spring schedule began with 10 of its first 11 matches at home. This weekend features the end of that run. The Broncos are 7-1 at home thus far, including six straight home wins. Following the matches against Denver and Oregon, Boise State will be on the road for its next four. The Broncos will return home to face Colorado State (March 31), Wyoming (April 2) and College of Idaho (April 23). Those three matches are slated for the Appleton Outdoor Tennis Center, weather permitting.
ON A ROLL: Freshman Anja Dokic has won six straight singles matches, and boasts a 6-1 record this season. Dokic is 5-0 playing at the No. 3 position, winning each match in straight sets.
