LINCOLN, Neb. -- Boise State got off to a strong start Saturday night at the Lincoln Regional in the Bob Devaney Events Center in Lincoln, Neb., but LSU and host Nebraska were both able to top the Broncos, leaving the Blue and Orange on the outside looking in for a bid to nationals. Boise State took third with a 196.150, LSU (197.450) was first and Nebraska (196.625) claimed the No. 2 spot.

Sophomore Shani Remme punched her ticket to nationals individually as an all-arounder thanks to a 39.150. The trip to the NCAA National Championships will be the second-consecutive appearance for Remme, as she competed last year on balance beam.

The third-place regional finish is the program's fifth under co-head coaches Tina Bird and Neil Resnick, as they also did so in the 2009, 2011, 2012 and 2016 seasons.

The Broncos started the evening on vault and fared well with a 48.950. Mackenzie Bennion, Mary Frances Bir, Courtney McGregor and Sarah Means were all able to earn 9.8s, and Remme contributed the fifth score with a 9.75.

After a bye in the second rotation, Boise State moved to its strong suit in the third -- uneven bars. The Blue and Orange were led by a 9.9 from Courtney McGregor and a trio of 9.85s from Bennion, Sandra Collantes and Diana Mejia. Remme and Ann Stockwell both came up with a 9.8s to round out the 49.250 for the team's highest event score of the day.

Boise State held a slim 98.200 -- 98.150 advantage over Nebraska at the halfway point, but the Cornhuskers were able to rally back and finish strong on uneven bars and balance beam.

The Broncos were solid on balance beam as both Remme and Means posted matching 9.85s. Mejia recorded a 9.8, and Alex Esmerian and McGregor both garnered 9.775s, giving the Blue and Orange a 49.050 on the event.

Boise State closed on floor and put up a 48.900. Stockwell started the event off strong with a 9.8 and Remme followed it up with a 9.75. Bennion received a 9.8 and Collantes managed a 9.725. Abby Webb was the high scorer, excelling for a 9.825.

Remme will compete at the NCAA National Championships in St. Louis, Mo., on April 14 at Chaifetz Arena. Stay tuned for more details next week.
