Avery Williams (R-Fr. | CB/PR/KR, | Pasadena, Calif.) - Football
What a debut it was for redshirt freshman CB/PR/KR Avery Williams in Saturday's 24-13 season-opening win for the football program. Just a minute and a half into the contest, Williams fielded a punt at the Bronco 19, weaved through would-be tackler and took it 81 yards for a touchdown on his first collegiate touch. The return was the fifth-longest in Bronco history, and his 124 punt-return yards over five chances in the contest marked the sixth-highest total in program history. Williams went on to return a kickoff for 48 yards to the Troy 41 late in the second quarter, setting up a field goal which gave the Broncos a 17-10 lead heading into halftime. For his performance, Williams was named Mountain West Special Teams Player of the Week.
