BOISE, Idaho – Julia Sanchez has been named the director of baseball operations at Boise State, head coach Gary Van Tol announced, Tuesday.
A native of San Clemente, Calif., Sanchez was the assistant general manager of the Orange County Riptide in the California Collegiate League (CCL) during the 2018 season.
Her responsibilities with the Riptide included ballpark administration, overseeing interns, fielding scouting questions, helping coordinate team travel, and running social media accounts.
"We are excited to have Julia on board as we continue to finalize our staff," Van Tol said. "There were many qualified candidates interested in the position. Julia came highly recommended and when all was said and done, she was exactly what we looking for and the bonus was she was already a Bronco."
Van Tol added, "Julia has aspirations of being in an MLB front office. We want to work with people who have the desire to work at the highest level while maintaining the standards and expectations of our program."
Sanchez will be responsible for coordinating the Broncos' team travel and on-campus recruiting, while serving as a liaison between the baseball staff and academics, media relations, marketing and promotions, game day operations, and the Bronco Athletic Association.
"An opportunity like this doesn't come around very often, so when given the chance, I jumped at it," Sanchez said. "Working in the CCL was a great experience for me and prepared me to work with coach Van Tol and the rest of the coaching staff as we prepare to take the field in 2020."
Sanchez is pursuing a bachelor's degree in public relations with a certification in Spanish from Boise State.
