BOISE, Idaho – The majority of Boise State baseball student-athletes will play in a summer collegiate league this year, with the earliest games taking place Monday.
Of the 32 players on the Broncos' roster, 26 will be in action this summer across seven states. Several leagues have been modified due to the COVID-19 pandemic and some have created "pods" for multiple teams.
In Bismarck, N.D., catcher Chase Adkison, pitcher Wesley Harper, catcher/outfielder Myles Harris and infielder/outfielder Christian Padilla will play for the Bismarck Larks. Pitchers Ike Buxton and Dawson Day and infielder Torin Montgomery will each don a Bismarck Bull Moose uniform. The Larks and Bull Moose are part of a three-team pod playing all games in the North Dakota region of the Northwoods League. The Larks open their season Monday and the season-opener for the Bull Moose is slated for Wednesday.
Mitch Lines and Travis Weston are scheduled to pitch for the La Crosse (Wis.) Loggers in the Wisconsin-Illinois Region of the Northwoods League with opening day set for July 1.
Pitcher Gavin Gorrell is a member of the Northwoods League's Willmar (Minn.) Stingers with schedule details coming soon.
First pitch in the Expedition League will take place June 26 and Boise State will be represented on a pair of teams. In Dickinson, N.D., pitchers Stu Flesland, Matt Gabbert and Hunter Omlid will play for the Badlands Big Sticks. Fellow hurlers Jay Baggs and Jared Glenn are with the Western Nebraska Pioneers in Gering.
Outfielder Jayce Bailey and infielders Grant Gorrell and Dominic Signorelli will play for the Greeley (Colo.) Grays in the Mile High Collegiate League. The Grays' schedule has not been finalized.
Infielder Matthew Farman, outfielder Grant Kerry, utility player Dawson Martin and first basemen Kase Ogata and Joe Yorke are in Salt Lake City taking part in the Utah College League. Rosters are not finalized.
In Texas, outfielder Reagan Doss (Austin), infielder Cole Posey (San Antonio) and pitcher Gabriel Subirats (Houston) will be part of events throughout the state run by Five Tool Baseball.
