Boise, Idaho - Boise State gymnastics co-head coaches Tina Bird and Neil Resnick announced Wednesday that two incoming freshmen have signed National Letters of Intent. Erin Elkabchi and Adriana Popp will join the Broncos for the 2019-20 academic year.

"We are excited to add them to our roster," Bird said. "Both are excellent students with great character that will fit in perfectly with our core values."

Elkabchi comes from Murrieta, Calif., and is coached by Terry Gray and Kathy Strate at Southern California Elite Gymnastics Academy. A competitor in the all-around, Elkabchi was a Level 10 Junior Olympics national qualifier in back-to-back years (2016-17). In 2017, she won the Region One championship on both beam (9.775) and floor exercise (9.800).

"Erin is a beautiful gymnast who is continuing to grow," Bird said.  "She has a ton of Junior Olympics success to build on as she joins the Bronco squad.  She will add depth on all events and is especially impressive on bars and beam."
Popp will join the Broncos from Girls Co-op Gymnastics, where she is coached by Sandy Greiner and Katelynn Christian. Popp hails from Easton, Penn., and was a Junior Olympics Level 10 national qualifier in 2018 while competing in the all-around. Popp was both the 2018 Pennsylvania State Bar Champion and the Region 7 Beam Champion.

Prior to 2018, Popp competed as a Junior International Elite, qualifying for the P&G Championships in 2014 and the Secret Classic in 2015.

"Adriana is a powerhouse of strength and dynamic gymnastics skills," Resnick said.  "She brings a wealth of competitive experience to the Bronco line-up and will be a key addition on all four events."

The Broncos are coming off their fourth-straight MRGC championship and look to add a fifth to their resume during the 2019 season, which begins on Jan. 13 in Boise.
