MVP Effort In Seattle Nets Hodgins Mountain West Player Of The Week

BOISE, Idaho - Boise State junior guard Braydey Hodgins was named Mountain West Player of the Week Monday morning after her MVP performance at this past weekend's Husky Classic in Seattle.
Hodgins was voted the tournament's Most Valuable Player after averaging 17.0 points and 5.0 rebounds over Boise State's 2-0 performance, shooting a combined 52.4 percent (11-for-21) from the field and 50.0 percent (9-for-18) from 3-point range in wins against Saint Francis (Pa.) and host Washington.

She played a key role in the Broncos' second-half comeback in Sunday's 73-69 victory over the host Huskies. Washington's 21-2 run encompassing both sides of halftime put the Broncos in a 41-35 hole early in the third quarter, but Hodgins paced the Broncos comeback, scoring 16 of her 19 points in the second half and icing the contest with a pair of free throws with eight seconds remaining.
The day before, Hodgins hit a career-high five 3-pointers and scored a game-high 15 points in Boise State's 78-64 win over Saint Francis (Pa.). For the game, she went 5-for-8 from 3-point range, and added three steals on the defensive end.
The weekend performance bolstered what has so far been a career season for Hodgins, who is averaging 10.8 points and 3.7 rebounds a game and shooting 40.8 percent (20-for-49) from 3-point range.
The player of the week nod is the second of Hodgins' career, as she had previously taken home the conference's weekly honor last March 4.
Boise State, off to an 8-2 start for just the third time in the last 25 seasons, plays its non-conference finale Wednesday, hosting Southern Utah (3-5) for a 5:30 p.m. tip.
