BOISE, Idaho - Janell Walley hit 32.1 percent for 12 kills against the Cowgirls, but it was not enough to lead Boise State past Wyoming as the Broncos fell in four set 3-1 (23-25, 25-20, 25-15, 25-16). Boise State opened the match strong taking the opening set, but then struggle after that as Wyoming rallied to win the final three sets for the Mountain West Conference victory.
"We came out strong in the first set, served the ball really well and put up big blocks that caused Wyoming some trouble early," said head coach Shawn Garus. "After that our serving got a little sloppy to start the second set, we lost momentum and we play from behind the rest of the way. Hopefully it is a learning moment for our young team, we have to play tougher because you don't win the match in the first set. I hope we will have a couple of spirited practices in the next couple days before we hit the road next week."
The Broncos hit 25 percent in the first set, then had trouble in the last three as they finished the match hitting 14.6 percent to Wyoming's 26.7 percent.Â
Walley led Boise State on the day adding one service ace, eight digs and two block assists to her kill total to finish with a team-high 14 points.Â
Lauren Ohlinger tallied seven kills, three service aces, 10 digs and two block assists to finish with 11 points. Alyssa Wissinger had seven kills and six blocks. Jessica Donahue hit 31.6 percent for eight kills to go with her four blocks assists. Meanwhile, Shea Duffy finished with six kills, six digs and two block assists.
Danielle Boss distributed a team-high 32 assists to go with her three services, one kill, team-high (tied) 15 digs and four blocks. Freshman libero Allison Casillas matched Boss with 15 digs.Â
Boise State moved to 12-7 overall and 4-4 in league play, while Wyoming improved to 12-7 and 7-1 in conference. Next up for the Broncos is the first of two straight weeks on the road when hey travel to San Diego State and Fresno State this week.Â
