BOISE, Idaho – Boise State women's golf announced its three-member signing class Friday. Joining the Broncos for the 2020-21 season will be Elli Gordon (Rocklin, Calif. / Rocklin HS), Elle McCord (Star, Idaho / Eagle HS), and Emma (Hyeji) Yang (Langley, B.C. / Walnut Grove Secondary School).

"I am thrilled about our incoming freshmen for 2020. This is one of the strongest recruiting classes we've ever had." said Boise State head coach Nicole Bird. "The amount of experience they each have is truly remarkable, but what's even better is that they are such good people.

"They all came in on a visit together and got along really well, and they compliment the rest of our returners," Bird continued. "They fit in with our culture and can't wait to be Broncos."

Gordon comes to Boise State as a highly-rated recruit who has posted top-10 finishes at numerous prestigious tournaments. This past summer, Gordon finished tied for sixth in a field of 104 at the Callaway Junior World Championship, firing rounds of 73-71-71, each at a different course in the Palm Desert, Calif., area. She also fired rounds of 75-71 at the Peter Jacobsen IMG Qualifier in June, with her 71 tying for the top score of the round.

Gordon played her freshman season at Rocklin High School, before moving to Texas and playing parts of two seasons at McKinney Boyd High. She recently moved back to Rocklin and is finishing her prep career with the Thunder. She was the Thunder's lone qualifier for the Northern California Sectionals as a freshman, before being named to the All-District A Team and All-Region B Team for McKinney Boyd after moving to Texas. A second place at Regionals in Texas earned Gordon a spot at the state tournament, and a spot on the 6A All-Region Team.

Gordon, back with Rocklin this season, recently qualified as an individual for the CIF State Championship, which will tee off Nov. 19.

"I will never forget when Elli called this summer to verbally commit. I was thrilled to have such a high-caliber golfer want to be part of our program," Bird said of Gordon. "I followed her around the country this summer watching her play a lot of golf, and I'm always impressed with her game. She has a great head for course management, and a strategic plan for playing each course. Her game is definitely ready for the college level."

McCord helped lead Eagle High School to it's second-straight 5A SIC District 3 title this past May, winning medalist honors in the process. She would follow that performance up with another winning effort at the 5A State Championships, claiming a one-stroke victory as she led Eagle to its second state title in a row.

McCord's achievements as a junior would lead to her being named the Idaho Press Tribune's Girls Golf Athlete of the Year.

McCord has added wins in Idaho Golf Association events, notably claiming the Eagle Invitational title.

"I love when we have local talent like Elle right on our backyard; we only get a handful of players from Idaho, and she's one of the best I've seen," Bird said of the defending Idaho 5A state champion. "Elle is very athletic and just has a lot of natural talent. She hits the ball really far and has been working on a swing change to get ready for next fall. She's had quite a bit of success at the junior level, and I'm excited to see the changes she's making start to pay off heading into next year. She's developed really quickly and her potential is limitless."

Yang has enjoyed a solid 2019, capturing the FCG National Championship as well as the Future Links Prairie Championship, firing rounds of 75-75-77=227 in the latter. She finished tied for 21st at the 2019 B.C. Women's Amateur before posting a 17th-place finish at the Canadian Junior Girls Championship in late July.

A year ago, Yang was named the Maple Junior Leaf Tour Player of the Year. She finished 10th at the B.C. Junior Girls' Championship and notched a tied-for-17th finish at the Canadian Junior Girls' Championship.

Yang plays mostly Canadian events. No. 3-ranked player from British Columbia for 2020.

"I was very excited when Emma committed to Boise State. She really liked Boise and the campus when she visited," Bird said. "Emma has been golfing for a very long time and her game is definitely going to make us better."
