BOISE, Idaho - Boise State hit 11 3-pointers Friday at ExtraMile Arena, rolling to an 82-57 victory over Portland State in the first round of the Preseason WNIT.
Boise State (2-0) advances to the quarterfinals, and will host Missouri State Sunday at 2 p.m. The Bears, who reached the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 last year, defeated Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 79-51, Friday night.
The Broncos' hot shooting peaked in the second quarter Friday night, going 7-for-12 from behind the arc and shooting 52.4 percent from the field. Boise State outscored the Vikings (1-1), 30-10, in the frame to take a 51-23 halftime lead
Rachel Bowers scored six points in Boise State's quarter-opening 9-0 run, opening up the game by giving the Broncos a 30-13 advantage. Lupfer would hit three of her six 3-pointers on the night in the frame, scoring nine of her game-high 20 points.
Bowers finished the night with 15 points (7-for-9 shooting) and six rebounds off the bench, while fellow sophomore Jade Loville hit a pair of treys in the pivotal second quarter, and finished the night 5-of-10 from the floor with 14 points.
Redshirt senior guard Ellie Woerner bolstered another strong night from the Bronco bench, grabbing a career-high 11 rebounds while scoring six points.
Portland State battled early, staying with the Broncos and trailing just 12-10 with 5:23 left in the first. But Lupfer would hit a layup and follow with a triple to start a 9-3 Bronco run that left Boise State with a 21-13 lead after the opening frame.
Bella Frazier and Desirae Hansen led the Vikings with 10 points apiece Friday.
