BOISE, Idaho -Â The Boise State football team, ranked Nos. 17 and 19 in the Coaches and Associated Press Polls, respectively, will host the Mountain West Football Championship Game Saturday (Dec. 7) at Albertsons Stadium. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m., and the game will be nationally televised by ESPN.
This is the third-straight year that Boise State has hosted the MW Championship, and the fourth such occurrence since the MW went to its current format for the 2013 season. No other school has hosted the championship game more than once, and home teams are 4-2 in the previous six editions of the title game.
The Broncos' fourth appearance in the championship game is tied with Fresno State for the most in the league, and the three-straight trips to the game is a first for any team.
THE NATION'S WINNINGEST PROGRAM
With Boise State's win over Colorado State and Michigan's loss to Ohio State during the final week of the regular season, the Broncos have taken over as the winningest team in college football history in terms of percentage. Since becoming a four-year school in 1968, Boise State is now 459-169-2, a win-ning percentage of .7302. Ohio State moved into the second spot with the win (.7298; 923-325-53), while Michigan dropped to third with the loss (.7297; 962-345-36).
WINS OVER BOWL-ELIGIBLE TEAMS
Boise State has defeated six bowl-eligible teams this season, tied for fifth-most nationally with Auburn, Notre Dame, Penn State and Wisconsin. Only LSU (8), Ohio State (8), Clemson (7) and Georgia (7) have more.
WINNING CONSISTENTLY
With its overtime victory over Wyoming, Boise State cemented its 22nd-consecutive season with a winning record, the longest active streak in the nation, the 15th-longest streak in NCAA history and the longest by a Group of Five school all-time. Notre Dame (42; 1887-1932) owns the longest streak in NCAA history, and Boise State entered the 2019 season tied with Ohio State (1967-87), Penn State (1967-87), Washington (1977-97) and USC (1962-82).
OPPONENT FALSE STARTS
Over the last two seasons, Boise State opponents have committed 41 false starts (3.15 per game) at Albertsons Stadium. No other venue in the country has produced more false starts or a higher average by visiting teams during that span.
MIDDAY ACTION
With its ticket to the Mountain West Championship Game punched, Boise State has the rare occurrence of playing afternoon contests (pre-5 p.m. kickoffs) in consecutive weeks. Nov. 29's regular-season finale at Colorado State kicked off at 1:30 p.m. MT, and this Saturday's conference title game is set to kick at 2 p.m. MT.
