BOISE, Idaho -Â Consecutive 20-point games and dead-eye shooting from deep led to a career week from Boise State junior guard Braydey Hodgins, and Monday morning it got her named Mountain West Player of the Week for the second time this season.
Hodgins also claimed the honor on Dec. 17, 2018, after her MVP performance at the Husky Classic in Seattle, and now has three conference weekly honors in her career.
The Pasco, Wash., native had the best week to date of her breakout 2018-19 campaign as Boise State took sole possession of first place in the Mountain West with a road of UNLV and San Jose State. Hodgins averaged 24.5 points and shot 58.6 percent from the field (17-for-29) and 52.6 percent from 3-point range (10-for-19). She opened the week with a career-high 28 points on 10-of-14 shooting, including 5-for-8 from beyond the arc, in Boise State's 64-57 win at UNLV, as the Broncos dealt the Lady Rebels their first conference home loss. In that contest, Hodgins helped get the Broncos out to a hot start and a nine-point halftime edge with a 7-for-7 (including four triples), 18-point effort in the first half.
Â
Her hot hand from Vegas carried over to the Bay Area three days later, as Hodgins drained five more 3-pointers and scored a game-high 21 points with five assists in the 83-69 victory over San Jose State. Her performance in San Jose was highlighted by an eight--point outburst over a 40-second span late in the third quarter that got the Bronco lead to 10 and helped the team pull away late.
On the year, Hodgins is averaging 11.4 points per game and ranks 12th in the country with a 44.8 3-point field-goal percentage (47-for-105).
Â
Boise State (19-3, 10-1 MW) has a two-game homestand this week, beginning Wednesday night against Fresno State (7 p.m. MT) and concluding Saturday against San Diego State (2 p.m. MT).
