PROVO, Utah - There was no shortage of excitement as the No. 10 Boise State Gymnastics team (8-0, 3-0 MRGC) topped the No. 20 BYU Cougars (5-4, 2-1 MRGC) 197.175-196.900 Friday night in the Smith Fieldhouse. Tied going into the final rotation, the Broncos sealed the deal with their best cumulative beam score in program history, a 49.550, and Shani Remme shattered her career best in the All-Around with a 39.600. The Broncos would combine for six scores over 9.900 and five 9.950s.

The Broncos kicked off the meet on bars in phenomenal fashion to combine for a score of 49.475, the fourth-highest team bars score in program history. Shani Remme and Emily Muhlenhaupt tied for first with 9.950s, a career high from Remme, and freshman Alexis Stokes reset her career high with a 9.925. Sarah Means also had a strong night in her first bars performance of the season with a 9.850, while Courtney McGregor and Gabby Bouza earned 9.800s. The Blue and Orange had a narrow .300 lead after the first rotation.

In rotation two, Boise State took on vault. Remme continued her consistency and once again matched her career high with a 9.850 to tie for second place with Means, who also finished with a 9.850. The Broncos completed the second rotation with a round score of 49 on vault. However, BYU also had a strong bars showing and the Cougars' Shannon Evans ended up tied with Remme and Muhlenhaupt for first place on bars, and at the halfway point, the Broncos and Cougars were knotted at 98.475.

On floor for rotation three, the Broncos remained solid. Tatum Bruden and Remme led the way with 9.850s, while McGregor and Alex Esmerian matched for 9.825s. Maddi Nilson scored her first 9.800 of the season in the event, and Boise State would go on to total 49.150 on floor. However, BYU also totaled 49.150 on beam, and the Broncos and Cougars would go into the final rotation still tied, with scores of 147.625.

The Broncos went into their last rotation with their eyes on a victory. Gabby Bouza opened up rotation four with career-best performance, scoring a 9.875, topping BYU's 9.800 on floor to retake a narrow lead. Isabella Amado topped her career best, also with a 9.875 to continue opening up their lead. However, it was McGregor, along with Remme, who took home the crown on beam, smashing her previous career best and stunning the crowd with a 9.950. Remme rounded out the scores by also finishing with a 9.950.

Boise State will head to Denver, Colo. for the fourth and final leg of their road trip next week. They will face off in a tri-meet with No. 6 Denver and No. 23 Iowa State on Sunday, Feb. 24 at 2p.m. MT.
