BOISE, Idaho – Highlighted by a conference-leading five student-athletes with perfect 4.0 grade-point averages this past year, the Boise State gymnastics team placed 14 individuals on the 2018-19 Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference All-Academic Team, the MRGC announced recently.
Senior Shani Remme, juniors Isabella Amado and Courtney McGregor and freshmen Dani Shafer and Alexis Stokes each recorded a 4.0 during the 2018-19 academic year, five of nine in the MRGC to accomplish the feat en route to academic all-conference honors.
To be eligible for the award, gymnasts must achieve at least a 3.2 grade-point average during the academic year.
Remme and fellow seniors Alex Esmerian and Sarah Means were each named to the MRGC All-Academic Team in each of their four seasons with the Broncos.
Juniors Amado, McGregor and Maddi Nilson have each been named to the MRGC All-Academic Team three times, and this is the second-straight award for sophomores Gabriela Bouza, Tatum Bruden, Emily Muhlenhaupt and Rachel Obmann.
Joining Shafer and Stokes as first-time honorees were freshmen Tessa Depasquale and Samantha Smith.
Boise State captured a fifth-straight MRGC Championship this past season, just the fourth time in school history one of the Broncos' athletic programs has accomplished the feat.
Each of Boise State's six all-conference performers were also named to the all-academic team – Esmerian, McGregor, Means, Muhlenhaupt, Remme and Stokes.
