Trella and Moortgat lead Broncos on Day Two of Barb Chandler Classic

The Boise State women's tennis team collected a few wins, but no Broncos advance to Sunday's finals.
BOISE, Idaho – The Boise State women's tennis team earned two doubles and two singles wins, but al four Boise State pairs were taken down in the Barb Chandler Classic on Saturday.
Wiktoria Nosek and Joana Baptista started off strong in their Blue Flight semifinal match, as they dominated the doubles point over Utah State's Carolina Millan and Lucy Octave 6-0. The pair, however, was eliminated after two hard-fought losses in singles.
Vanessa Timm and Ana Conde Vendrell saw much of the same story in their Orange Flight semifinal match as the pair took down Weber State's Ana Morett-Salas and Cali Fuller 6-2 in doubles, but both dropped their singles matches. Timm faced Fuller in a match that went three grueling sets with Fuller getting the upper-hand in the end 3-6, 7-5, 6-2, while Conde Vendrell showed a lot of fight in her match as she took Morett-Salas to a tight third set, but ended up losing the contest 1-6, 7-5, 7-5.
Frankie Trella delivered her second singles win of the weekend Saturday morning when she beat Idaho's Maggie Chen in consecutive sets 6-4, 6-0. However, Trella and her partner Jovana Kuljanin were unable to win the doubles point and were knocked out of the consolation semifinals of the Orange Flight.
Redshirt-freshman Camryn Moortgat kept the momentum rolling from her first career singles win yesterday as she handled Weber State's McKenna Lloyd 6-1, 6-2 to get her second victory of the weekend. But with her and partner Corey Patton Lossner dropping the doubles point, the Wildcat/Vandal team bested the Broncos in the end.
The Barb Chandler Classic will continue tomorrow when Boise State will look to bounce back in the consolation bracket. Matches will be held both at Appleton Tennis Center and Julia Davis Park beginning at 8 a.m.
