BOISE, Idaho -Â The Boise State football team returns to conference play this week, playing host to Colorado State, Thursday (Nov. 12). Kickoff between the Broncos (2- 1, 2-0 MW) and Rams (1-1, 1-1 MW) is slated for 6:05 p.m. at Albertsons Stadium, and the game will be nationally televised on FS1. The game against the Rams is the Broncos' second-straight home non-Saturday game, and marks the first time in school history that Boise State will play on back-to-back short weeks, having gone from Saturday (Air Force, Oct. 31) to Friday (BYU, Nov. 6) to Thursday.
CONFERENCE WIN STREAK
While the Broncos' eight-game home winning streak came to an end this past week, which was tied for the 10thlongest in the country, Boise State still has an impressive streak going. The Broncos' 11-straight conference victories is tied for the second-longest in the country, trailing only Ohio State (18).
NON-SATURDAY GAMES
Thursday's game against Colorado State is the second of three non-Saturday games for the Broncos in 2020, and the Broncos' second-straight such matchup. This is the first time in school history that Boise State has gone Saturday to Friday to Thursday in consecutive weeks, losing a day of preparation for back-to-back games. Boise State is 61-18 all-time in non-Saturday games, including a record of 9-2 on Thursdays. During the regular season, Boise State is 53-12 in non-Saturday contests, and 8-2 on Thursdays. This is the Broncos' first Thursday contest since hosting New Mexico, Sept. 14, 2017, a game the Broncos won 28-14. Boise State has never lost a home Thursday game, going a perfect 7-0.
THE SERIES
Boise State is a perfect 9-0 against Colorado State all-time, including four victories at Albertsons Stadium. The Broncos' first win over the Rams came in Boise State's first conference game as a member of the Mountain West, a 63-13 drubbing in Fort Collins, Colo., Oct. 15, 2011.
AVOIDING CONSECUTIVE LOSSES
A win over Colorado State would prevent Boise State from dropping consecutive games, whether in the same season or bridging one season to the next, for the first time since 2016. That season, the Broncos dropped the final two games, a 27-20 loss at Air Force and a 31-12 defeat against Baylor at the Motel 6 Cactus Bowl. Only six times since 2001 have the Broncos had a slide of at least two games. Boise State will be looking to avoid only its third back-to-back losses under Bryan Harsin (2014-present), and first since the final two contests of 2016.
