BOISE, Idaho – A day that began with Boise State celebrating head coach Gordy Presnell 1,000th-career game ended with the Broncos posting a 90-43 victory over visiting College of Idaho, Saturday at ExtraMile Arena.
Jade Loville poured in a career-high 22 points to lead all scorers in the season opener for both schools.
Rachel Bowers added 18 points, one just of her career high, and pulled down eight rebounds. Freshman Alexis Mark (16 points) and redshirt-freshman Chinma Njoku (14 points off the bench) gave the Broncos four players in double-figure scoring.
"I think we are little bit longer and a little athletic than we have been in the past; it's just a matter of experience," Presnell said. "Alexis Mark is extremely athletics and I think she and Mary Kay Naro are going to be a good 1-2 punch for us."
Naro led all players with 10 rebounds and seven assists in her collegiate debut.
Loville and Bowers combined for 10 points and Boise State raced to a 12-0 lead midway through the first quarter. The Broncos held a 21-11 advantage after the first 10 minutes.
Boise State opened the second quarter on a 12-2 run, with five players scoring during the stretch, to take a 33-13 lead. The advantage swelled to 47-19 on a 6-0 spurt to close the half.
Loville scored eight points in the third quarter and Boise State led 69-36 heading into the final stanza.
The Broncos' defense clamped down in the fourth quarter, blanking the Yotes for the final 6:39 while closing the game on an 11-0 run.
Boise State won its seventh-straight season opener and is scheduled to host Weber State at 1 p.m., Sunday.
