Boise State Falls to Utah

BOISE, Idaho - Boise State women's tennis fell Sunday afternoon to 45th-ranked Utah 4-0 at the Boas Indoor Tennis Center. Boise State was led by Lilian Poling who was winning her match at No. 1 singles when Utah clinched the team win to end play.
"There were some good take aways from today's match for our team for sure," said head coach Beck Roghaar. "We're learning a lot on the fly, being down a player and with so many young players in the lineup. We're getting the experience we need in the exact spots we need it. Utah has a lot of depth and experience and that played out in their favor today in the matches that finished, but I know our team will respond and learn what we need to out of this match. They've shown that all year to get to a 9-3 record heading into conference play. I know we're ready to get back to the courts this week to keep improving."
Utah claimed the doubles point 2-0 with wins on courts one and three. At the No. 1 position Utah's 16th-ranked duo of Madison Tattini and Whitney Hekking was able to get by Boise State's top tandem of Poling and Holly Stewart 6-3. For Poling and Stewart it is only their second loss of the season, they are now 9-2.
In singles the Utes claimed the first three singles matches completed to clinch the team victory. Utah earned victories at No. 3 singles where Vanessa Timm fell to Hekking; on court six where Jovana Kuljanin came up short; and at the fourth position where Mae McCutcheon was defeated in two sets.
The Broncos will be back in action March 20 and 21 when they continue their homestand with the Mountain West Conference openers versus UNLV and San Diego State.
