BOISE, Idaho – Boise State women's basketball added to its 2020-21 roster Tuesday as head coach Gordy Presnell announced the signing of Slovakian international Martina Machalova (Košice, Slovakia / Young Angels Košice).

Machalova, a 5-foot-8 guard, is a member of Slovakian club Young Angels Košice, seeing top-flight action for the team in the European Women's Basketball League (EWBL), and the ExtraLiga, Slovakia's domestic league, in 2019-20. She will boost the program's incoming freshman class to eight, after the signing of seven newcomers back in November.

"Martina will be a great addition to our program. She is a very good athlete with terrific quickness. She has the capability of putting up big numbers, as shown in her performance at the U18 European Championship," Presnell said.

In European league action, Machalova played in five contests, averaging 13.8 points with 4.2 rebounds per game while posting FG/3FG/FT percentages of 48.9/50.0/82.6. She averaged 7.2 points and 3.2 rebounds over 19.6 minutes over 19 Extraliga appearances, posting shooting percentages of 44.1/32.4/75.7.

Machalova has played 42-career Extraliga games for Young Angels Košice, averaging 7.2 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 45.0 percent from the field.

At the international level, Machalova was part of Slovakia's U18 National Team which finished 12th at the 2017 FIBA U18 Women's European Championship Division B. At the event, hosted in Ireland, Machalova averaged 7.4 points and 4.3 rebounds over eight games, and shooting 56.1 percent (23-for-41). She posted a pair of 15-point games in group play, against Moldova and Ukraine.
