Jeramiah Dickey was introduced as Boise State University's sixth Director of Athletics, Monday during a press conference at the Allen Noble Hall of Fame. Dickey was introduced by Boise State President Dr. Marlene Tromp and search committee chair Randy Hales. Dickey spoke about his personal and professional background, described his vision for Boise State Athletics and took questions from the media. Below is a selection of his quotes.

On why Boise State was an attractive opportunity and his first impressions…
"Every single person I reached out to and every single person who reached out to me brought up the community and how great of a fit I would be and how unbelievable Dr. Tromp is, the leadership and the foundation. Baylor was unbelievable to us. I said it would take a special opportunity, and that was this. There's history here. From a football perspective alone, at every position I've had throughout my career Boise State was the barometer of success. That's what we were striving to be. To be mentioned and ultimately offered this unbelievable opportunity, I'm just so grateful for that."

"Everyone I have engaged with has been amazing and our family is so extremely grateful for this. The last three days has been a sprint, so to have the support of Boise, the community, the staff and everyone in here today, I can't thank you enough."

"Since the announcement, my phone has been blowing up. I know I owe a lot of calls and text messages and emails, and I promise I will get to every single one of them. And that includes people in Boise who have already reached out to me. That's a testament to this community. I am so grateful for my family and I to join you and be a part of it, and to get here as quickly as possible to live here and live among you."

"My 20 years of experience has led me to this moment. I am so excited to get to work. I'm so excited to get through the show. I want to meet our staff. I want to meet our coaches. I want to meet our student-athletes. I want to hear their stories and to know about them and their families. I want to meet our donors and Bronco Nation. I've heard so many great things about them. I can't to get in front of them, outside of Zoom. Technology, as great as it is, I want to shake hands and I want to meet those who have very much impacted and built upon this foundation."

On his leadership style and who he is…
"For those who know me best, family is something that comes up quite a bit. It's the core of my being. I could not do what I do on a daily basis and serve the student-athletes that I serve and serve our staff and our coaches and our administration without the support of my wife, Elizabeth and our three kids."

"I've spent the vast majority of my 20 years in college athletics developing relationships. I have a lot of faith and confidence in myself that I can do that. I am authentic, I am honest and I am transparent. I think, and I would like to believe, that's what Bronco Nation is and that they are going to see that,
understand it, appreciate it and embrace it."

On what goals he has for Boise State Athletics…
"I think we have a lot to offer. I did not come to Boise State to put it in cruise control and rest on our successes from the past. I came here to be elite and we're going to do that. That means moving the ball and moving forward."

"The foundation is here. We will operate at an elite level. The student-athlete experience will matter. We will do it with integrity and character. This is common to what Boise State has been and will be what we are moving forward. We are going to strive for excellence in everything we do. You will hear me say that a lot. We will not care who gets credit. We are a team, first and foremost. I'm not big on titles and individual accolades. I'm big on team and we will be big on team."

"We will win championships in all sports. In the conference and nationally. That will always be a goal and an aspiration, but we will control the controllables. We will have elite facilities. We will have elite experiences for our student-athletes. We will have elite experiences for our constituents and our donors. We are going to be successful. I can guarantee it."

"I'm really looking forward to seeing our facilities. I know they are elite, because everyone who called me said they're the best in the conference. But our job is to make sure they are always the best. Our job is to make sure we continue pushing and driving home that we will be elite in everything we do. We will strive for excellence and we will achieve it."

On his first orders of business leading the department…
"I need to meet with every single staff member. It starts with our head coaches and our leadership team. The goal within the first 100 days is to meet with every single staff member. They have a story to tell. They obviously have been here, in the weeds, and understand what this community is. Maybe more importantly to me in terms of the job, what this institution represents for them. That's a tremendous amount of valuable information for me. I need to take that in as much as I possibly can, as quickly as I possibly can. I definitely want to get in front of our student-athletes and would like to do that, COVID permitting, to go to practice and engage with them and see our coaches at work. I think that's part of building the relationship and the culture we want to define as we move forward. I also think a deep dive into our facilities, into our budget, into our resources, into our fundraising, I think it's warranted.

"Resources are going to be a priority moving forward. My background is in fundraising and resource generation, so whatever we don't have, we will go out and get. That is going to be our approach. I still need to meet with a lot of people and wrap my head around the opportunities."

On the current football coaching search…
"Prior to being hired, I was not involved. Since being hired, I'm 100 percent in. I'm looking forward to working with our team. Obviously, that's an extremely important hire for us. I'm excited about the opportunity. With our history, tradition and the foundation laid by those before us, I'm excited for our next coach."
