Broncos Drop Game to CSU Bakersfield

11/26/2021 9:27:00 PM | Men's Basketball

BOISE, Idaho - Boise State men's basketball lost to Cal State Bakersfield Friday, 46-39, at ExtraMile Arena. Devonaire Doutrive led the Broncos with 15 points.

Boise State (3-3) used a 9-2 run midway through the second half to climb within two, 36-34, with 7:44 to go. As the game hung in the balance, both teams failed to score for nearly four minutes.

The Broncos made two free throws to tie the game at 36 with 3:14 left, but Kaleb Higgins made a jumper on CSU Bakersfield's next possession, snapping a scoreless drought of more than five minutes. A minute later Higgins made another jumper at the end of the shot clock to put the Roadrunners (3-2) ahead by four. The visitors made enough free throws down the stretch to fend off the Broncos.

Boise State shot 22.4 percent from the floor, including 11.8 percent from three-point range. The 39 points are the fewest scored in Leon Rice's tenure as head coach.

Boise State continues its three-game home stand Tuesday, against St. Louis. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m. MT, at ExtraMile Arena.
