ABOUT SAINT LOUIS: The Billikens are 6-1 this season and fresh off winning the Cancun Challenge Riviera Division. Gibson Jimmerson, Saint Louis' leading scorer, was named tournament MVP. Jimmerson is averaging 16.4 points per game, one of four players in double figures for the Billikens.

SERIES HISTORY: Tuesday marks the first meeting between Boise State and Saint Louis in men's basketball. The Broncos and Billikens were both slated to appear at the 2020 Orlando Invitational before the tournament was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

AGAINST THE A-10: Tuesday will be Boise State's eighth all-time meeting against a current member of the Atlantic 10, and the second this year (St. Bonaventure). The Broncos are 3-4 in the first seven games. Saint Louis is the fourth current A-10 member to play at Boise State and the first to do so while a member of the conference. Current members Davidson (1994), George Mason (1992) and VCU (1973) previously played at Boise State before joining the league.

CALLING CARD: Boise State head coach Leon Rice claimed before the season that the 2021-22 Broncos had a chance to be the best defensive team in his 12 years as head coach. Through six games, they have made good on that prediction. Boise State is holding opponents to 56.5 points per game this season, surrendering no more than 67 so far. It is the fifth time in program history Boise State has held its opponents to fewer than 70 points in each of the first six games of a season and the first time since 2010-11, Rice's debut season.

SUB-60: Boise State's defensive effort picked up where it left off last season. The Broncos have allowed no more than 67 points this season and have held four opponents under 60 points. They held opponents to fewer than 60 points 10 times last season, the second-most in a single season under Leon Rice. The Broncos held 14 foes under 60 in 2014-15, on their way to winning the Mountain West regular-season title. Boise State is 77-11 under Rice when holding opponents under 60 points, including 9-1 last season.
