BOISE, Idaho -Â Boise State outscored Tulsa 14-2 in the final 4:49 and closed out a 63-58 victory Friday, at ExtraMile Arena. Marcus Shaver, Jr. recorded a near-triple-double with 17 points, eight rebounds and seven assists.
Shaver knocked down a straightaway three-pointer with 2:09 left, his fourth of the game, to give Boise State (4-4) a 59-58 lead. That shot was the start of a 7-0 run to finish the game as the Broncos overcame 24 turnovers and snapped a two-game skid.
Â
Abu Kigab matched Shaver's game-high outputs of 17 points and eight rebounds. Kigab also assisted on Shaver's go-ahead basket.
Emmanuel Akot (12) and Tyson Degenhart (11) also scored in double figures. Each made a pair of three-pointers. Degenhart has scored 11 points in each of his two starts.
After Shaver put the Broncos on top, Tulsa had two looks near the rim. Akot blocked the first shot and after an offensive rebound extended the possession, Degenhart rejected the next attempt.Â
Jeriah Horne led the Golden Hurricane (4-4) with 17 points. Horne's apparent jumper with four seconds to go would have brought Tulsa within one, but after video review it was determined the shot clock expired before the shot was released.
Boise State put the game away at the free throw line.
The Broncos shot 51.1 percent from the floor, including 9-of-22 (40.9 percent) from beyond the arc. Boise State rebounded nine of its 22 misses, leading to a 34-21 overall rebound advantage.
Boise State hits the road for its next game, Tuesday at CSUN. Tipoff is at 7 p.m. PT/8 p.m. MT on ESPN+.
