PROVO, Utah - Boise State volleyball fell 3-0 to No. 11-seed BYU in the opening round of the NCAA tournament Friday night in Provo, Utah. BYU's experience at the NCAA tournament showed from the beginning as the Broncos — playing in only the second NCAA Championship in program history — struggled early and had trouble sustaining any momentum, falling 25-6, 25-19, 25-10 in front of nearly 4,000 spectators.

BYU out hit Boise State .388 percent to a -.012 percent. Boise State was led by Alyssa Wissinger who had five kills and one block assist.

Alli O'Harra followed with four kills and a block solo, while Jordan Miller and Paige Bartsch each had three kills.

The early NCAA tournament jitters affected the Broncos in set one as the period was all BYU as the Cougars raced out to a quick lead and never looked back.

The second set was different with the Broncos taking an early lead up 5-2. BYU then rallied on a 6-0 run to take the lead for good. Boise State played stronger in set two, hanging with the Cougars who pulled away late stretching a 21-18 advantage to 25-19 at the end.

Up two sets to none, BYU came out fast to open the third period and slowly pulled away for the 15-point victory over the Blue and Orange.

The loss ends the season for the Broncos who moved to 24-11 overall. It was an impressive year considering the many ups and downs the Broncos dealt with throughout the season with injuries and illness. Boise State will return the bulk of this year's squad next season including two-time All-Mountain West honoree Lauren Ohlinger, Mountain West Freshman of the Year Paige Barstch and honorable-mention All-MW Alyssa Wissinger.
