BOISE, Idaho – Boise State football head coach Andy Avalos announced the hiring of Jalyn Baker as the Broncos' assistant director, sports performance coach, Monday.
"Coach Baker is an outstanding young coach, and an even better person," Avalos said. "I believe the young men in this brotherhood will learn a great deal from him, and I am excited to have him join our staff."
Baker joins the Broncos from Jackson State, where he most recently served as assistant coordinator for the Walter Payton Center, working with student-athletes in all JSU programs. He also spent more than a year as a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach, primarily working with the Tigers' football program, and leading workouts for the school's women's soccer, men's and women's basketball and volleyball programs.
"I am incredibly thrilled to join the Broncos' sports performance staff," Baker said. "This is a program I have long respected for its blue-collar mentality, and I feel privileged to join a staff of high-character men leading high-character student-athletes."
Baker also spent time as an intern at both Houston and Prairie View A&M, where he was a student-athlete and ultimately earned a degree in kinesiology/physical therapy in 2018. Baker is currently finalizing a master's in sports management at Jackson State.
