
Presnell Signs Oklahoma Graduate Transfer Mandy Simpson

Simpson is a 2017 graduate of Boise High School who played the last four years for the Oklahoma Sooners.
BOISE, Idaho - Gordy Presnell, Boise State's head women's basketball coach, announced today the addition of Mandy Simpson, a graduate transfer from Oklahoma and a 2017 graduate of Boise High School. Simpson started in 72 of 105 games played in her career at OU. She is the first graduate transfer and second transfer overall that has joined the Broncos this week along with Sydney McQuietor from Boston College.Â
Simpson finished her career at OU with 432 points (4.1 ppg), 545 rebounds (5.2 rpg), 202 assists (1.9 apg), 61 steals and 14 blocks. She also shot 41.6 percent from the floor.Â
"We are so happy that Mandy Simpson has chosen to come home," said Presnell. "She was a very effective player in the Big 12 and we are excited for what she can bring to Boise State. She will make a great Bronco!"
In the season of chaos this past year, Simpson played in 20 games with five starts for Oklahoma as a senior. She scored 57 points with 77 rebounds, 36 assists, 10 steals and one block.Â
Simpson's junior year highlighted her time in Norman, Okla., when she started all 30 games at forward for the Sooners. She shot 43.8 percent from the floor going 71-of-162 and scored 161 points to average 5.4 points per game. Simpson finished the season with 208 total rebounds and averaged 6.9 per game to rank 11th in the Big 12 and averaged 8.1 rebounds per game in Big 12 contests, which ranked 10th. She also had eight games in double-digit rebounds and ended the season with 86 assists, six blocks and 24 steals.Â
Some of Simpson's highlights from her junior campaign include: scoring 18 points in OU's win over No. 25 LSU to go with 10 rebounds to record her first career double-double; at Texas Tech she scored a career-high 19 points with nine rebounds and six assists; tallied a double-double with 10 boards and 12 assists at Kansas, to tie for the eighth-most assists in a single game in program history.
As a sophomore, Simpson played in 30 games and started 28, scoring 157 points with 178 rebounds, 72 assists, five blocks and 23 steals. She ranked 16th in the Big 12 in rebounds per game at 5.9. During her freshman campaign she played in 25 games and started nine tallying 57 points, 82 rebounds, eight assists, two blocks and four steals.Â
At Boise High School, Simpson was a two-time Idaho 5A All-State First Team selection and a second-team honoree as a sophomore. As a senior, she averaged a double-double during the season on 16.1 points and 10.1 rebounds per contest. Simpson was ranked as the 20th-best forward in the 2017 class by ESPN HoopGurlz and nominated to participate in the 2017 McDonald's All-American Game. During her junior campaign she averaged 17.0 points, 11.4 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game.Â
