LAS VEGAS – Boise State's Hugo Townsend has been named to the International Team for the 2021 Arnold Palmer Cup.

The Ryder Cup-style competition is scheduled for June 11-13 at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Ill. The 25th playing of the matches will mark the fourth time under an expanded format that includes USA collegiate golfers against their counterparts from around the world.

Townsend is a redshirt sophomore from Boden, Sweden who is currently ranked 17th in the NCAA by Golfstat. After tying for 11th in the season-opening event, Townsend has posted six-straight top-10 finishes, including his first-career victory, which came at the Duck Invitational in Eugene, Ore., March 22-23. Last week, he finished in a four-way tie for medalist honors at the Mountain West Championship, before being eliminated on the second playoff hole.

Last summer, Townsend won the Idaho State Amateur and advanced to the round of 32 at the U.S. Amateur.

Rich Harvest Farms consistently ranks among America's 100 Greatest Golf Courses by Golf Digest. Located less than an hour from Chicago, the professional tees play at par 72, 7,715 yards.

The Arnold Palmer Cup was co-founded by Arnold Palmer and the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). It is the only major tournament that features men and women playing side-by-side as partners. Since its inception, 101 former Arnold Palmer Cup alumni have gone on to earn cards on either the PGA or European Tours, 25 have represented the United States or Europe in Ryder Cup or Presidents Cup play and 53 have claimed victories on the PGA or European Tour.
