COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Boise State set a department record Thursday as 129 Bronco student-athletes earned the 2020-21 Mountain West Scholar-Athlete Award. This marks eight-straight years in which the number of Boise State student-athletes to receive the award has increased.
Boise State football led the conference with 26 student-athletes receiving the MW Scholar-Athlete Award, setting a program record for the second-straight season. Bronco women's tennis also topped the MW as it too set a program best with all eight student-athletes earning the award. Also setting a program record was softball (14), while men's golf (five) and volleyball (seven) each matched their best marks.
The Scholar-Athlete award is one of the most prestigious academic honors awarded by the conference. To be eligible for the 2020-21 Scholar-Athlete team, student-athletes must have completed at least two semesters at the member institution, while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher. The athletic contribution/participation requirement has been omitted for this award this year due to the impact of COVID-19.
A complete list of Boise State's 2020-21 Mountain West Scholar-Athlete Award winners can be found below. An asterisk denotes a cumulative grade-point average of 4.0.
