Khalil Shakir Named Preseason All-American

BOISE, Idaho – Boise State wide receiver Khalil Shakir leads nine Broncos receiving Pro Football Focus preseason honors.
Shakir was named All-America Third Team and All-Mountain West First Team. Shakir recorded 52 receptions for 719 yards and six touchdowns in 2020. He added 148 rushing yards and was one of only two players nationally with 700 yards receiving and 100 yards rushing last season. He was a Pro Football Focus Honorable Mention All-American and All-Mountain First-Team honoree who led the Mountain West (10th nationally) with 7.43 receptions per game.
In the Mountain West, Jake Stetz was named first team as an interior offensive lineman. He started every game last season and was All-Mountain West Second Team in 2020.
Kicker Jonah Dalmas and cornerback Markel Reed picked up second-team accolades. Dalmas was All-Mountain West Honorable Mention as a freshman in 2020 after converting 7-of-8 field goals and 30-of-31 PAT. Reed has played in 18 games in his first two seasons with the Broncos.
Kekaula Kaniho (flex defense) and wide receiver CT Thomas were named third team. Kaniho led the Broncos with seven pass breakups and was named the Senior CLASS Award winner for the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision. Thomas has a reception in 37-straight games, the second-longest active streak in FBS.
Interior defensive lineman Scale Igiehon, offensive tackle John Ojukwu and quarterback Jack Sears each received honorable mention. Igiehon has recorded 70 tackles, including nine TFL, in his 31 games at Boise State. Ojukwu started every game last season and was All-Mountain West Second Team. Sears was 23-for-27 passing in three games last season, his first as a Bronco.
