Ohlinger Named MW Offensive Player of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Boise State junior Lauren Ohlinger has been named the Mountain West Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week for Sept. 6 as announced today by the league office. Ohlinger helped the Broncos to the UCI/Adidas Invitational title and was named to the all-tournament team this past weekend in Irvine, Calif. This is the outside hitter's second player of the week honor in her career.

The native of Phoenix, Ariz., tallied a team-high 51.5 points over the three match span that saw Boise State defeat Southern Utah (3-1), UC Irvine (3-1) and George Mason (3-0) on its way to the tournament championship.

Ohlinger recorded a three-match combined 38 total kills, a team-high 11 service aces, five blocks and 36 digs. She averaged 3.45 kills per set, team-high 1.0 service aces, 3.27 digs, 0.45 blocks and team-best 4.68 points.

Among her many highlights were a double-double against Southern Utah, as well as two matches with a team-high four service aces and a third with three.

In the win over Southern Utah, Ohlinger recorded her third double-double of the season with 11 kills and career-tying 19 digs along with a team-high four service aces and two block assists for 16.0 points.  

In the win over tournament host UC Irvine, Ohlinger tallied a team-high 18 kills while hitting .295 percent, three service aces, nine digs, two block assists and a team-best 22.0 points. 

In the 3-0 win over George Mason, Ohlinger had a team second-best nine kills, team-high four service aces, eight digs, one block assist and team-best 13.5 points. 

Ohlinger and her Bronco teammates will be back in action this coming weekend when they travel to Sacramento, Calif., for the Sacramento State Invitational featuring Pacific, Cal State Northridge (CSUN) and Sacramento State.
