BOISE, Idaho – Boise State volleyball came up short to the Nevada Wolf Pack Thursday night in a tough 3-1 (22-25, 25-20, 25-21, 27-25) Mountain West loss at Bronco Gym.
Â
Even with Boise State struggling in the attack, hitting below .150 percent, the Broncos battled the Wolf Pack through four tight sets – with a combined 38 ties and 23 lead changes – and had opportunities to get the win. Unfortunately, Nevada was able to hold off the Blue and Orange down the stretch in the final three sets to hand the Broncos the home defeat to even the season series at one win each.
Â
Boise State hit a match-high .286 percent to win the first set by three points. It used a 3-0 run to break a 13-13 tie to move to a 16-13 advantage, then led the rest of the way in earning the victory.
Â
The second set was tied at 20 before the Wolf Pack outscored the Broncos 5-0 down the stretch to claim the win to tie the match up at 1-1.
Â
The third period – which saw 12 ties and eight lead changes – was similar to the second with the teams knotted up at 20, followed by Nevada rolling off a 5-1 run to take the set and a 2-1 match advantage.
Â
The final set saw the Broncos rally from four down at 23-19 to tie the score up at 23. Boise State then had set point up 25-24 but could not put it away as Nevada came back with three-straight points to win the fourth 27-25 to clinch the match 3-1.

Quotables
- "I liked how we played in set one," said Boise State head Coach Shawn Garus. "I think we have had to make a lot of adjustments based on some personnel missing. But the team has responded pretty well in practice and came out and played set one pretty clean and got a nice win. Unfortunately, we couldn't sustain it. I thought our passing struggled late in the match and as a result, we struggled to have a consistent offense."
- Lauren Ohlinger recorded her eighth double-double of the year and 30th of her career on a team-high 14 kills and 11 digs. She added two block assists and finished with 15 points on the night.
- Paige Bartsch hit .348 percent for 13 kills to go with a team-high and career-tying seven blocks – two solos – to end the match with a team-best 17.5 points.
- Jordan Miller finished with 10 kills and was the only other Bronco to reach double-figure kills.
- Allison Casillas recorded a team-high 17 digs.
- Ohlinger's career total for kills increased to 1,328, third most all-time in program history…in addition, she now has 71 career matches with double-digit kills.
- Bartsch's 13 kills gave her 21 matches in double-figure kills on the year.
- Casillas' career digs total moved to 1,113, 12th all-time in the record book.
- The win by Nevada decreased the Broncos' lead in the all-time series to seven at 37-30.
Boise State will close the home slate on Saturday at noon when they host second-place San Jose State for Senior Day.
