Boise State Cross Country Secures a Set of Top-10 Finishes at NCAA Regionals

SEATTLE, Wash. – The Boise State men's and women's cross country teams notched sixth-place finishes at the NCAA West Regionals, Friday.
 
The men were paced by senior Jonathan Shields, who improved his position from 29th place at the 1k mark to 10th overall, recording a personal best of 28:41.2 in the men's 10k.
 
Sophomore Ahmed Ibrahim followed closely behind Shields, finishing in the top 25 (15th place) with a new personal best of 28:49.3. 
 
On the women's side, 2022 Mountain West Runner-Up Yasmin Marghini was the first Bronco to cross the finish line the in 6k, notching a 10th place finish (19:35.0).
 
Junior Delaney Griffin and sophomore Autumn Ost were the next two members of the Blue and Orange to cross the finish line, placing 31st and 32nd, respectively.
 
Ibrahim, Marghini, and Shields earned USTFCCCA All-Region honors for finishing in the top 25.

Top Broncos:
  • Sophomore Yasmin Marghini finished 10th in the women's 6k race with a personal best time of 19:35.0 and received USTFCCCA All-Region honors for placing in the top-25.
  • Junior Delaney Griffin (31st place), sophomores Autumn Ost (32) and Abby Kendrick (33), and freshman Kaiya Robertson (49) all placed in the top-50 in the 6k in a field of 249 runners.
  • Senior Jonathan Shields (10th place) and sophomore Ahmed Ibrahim (15) both finished in the top 15 in the men's 10k race, earning USTFCCCA All-Region honors for placing in the top 25.
  • Junior Aidan Palmer and sophomore Brogan Giffin finished within the top 50 in the 10k in a field of 219 runners.

  • The Broncos registered sixth-place finishes in both the men's and women's races at the NCAA West Regionals.
  • Boise State notched nine top 50 finishes.
  • Boise State's men's team outpaced nationally-ranked Portland (24).
