THE MEET
Boise State seeks a second-straight top-20 upset to start the season as it travels to BYU for a matchup with the 18th-ranked Cougars. The meet is scheduled to start at noon MT and will be available to watch on BYUtv.

WHAT THE NUMBERS SAY
Last season the Broncos collected eight top-25 wins, including a victory against No. 14 BYU in the second meet of the year (Jan. 23). BYU owns the all-time series over Boise State 41-33-0 and have won four of the last five meetings.

The Broncos and Cougars have combined to win all seven Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference championships since the league came to be in the 2015 season. Boise State won an unprecedented five-straight titles from 2015-2019. BYU ended the streak by claiming the crown in 2020 and repeated as champion in 2021

LAST TIME OUT
After missing out on the first two meets of the year, Boise State opened its season in front of home fans at ExtraMile Arena as it hosted No. 19 Southern Utah. The Broncos used a strong final rotation on floor to push past the Thunderbirds 194.850-194.700. Emily Muhlenhaupt secured her 17th-career bars title with a 9.950 on the apparatus, while Emily Lopez also impressed with a 9.925. Adriana Popp took home the crown on beam with a 9.875, while Hope Masiado claimed the all-around competition with a score of 38.900.

A big talking point from the victory was the performances of three freshmen in the floor rotation. Emma Loyim, Elaina McGovern and Blake Pascal each posted team-high 9.800s in their respective debuts to help secure the victory. The win was the second-straight season-opening win over a top-20 opponent for Boise State, which upset No. 13 Oregon State on the road to open the 2021 campaign. The Broncos have now come out on top in six of their last seven season-opening meets.

WEEKLY AWARDS
Emily Muhlenhaupt was named the Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference Bars Specialist of the Week for her performance in Boise State's season opener. The award is the 16th specialist of the week award in her career. Muhlenhaupt is also tied for first in the Road to Nationals individual bars rankings. Sophomore Emily Lopez also appears on the RTN bars rankings, sitting tied for sixth.
