BOISE, Idaho – Five Broncos were named to the Phil Steele Preseason All-Mountain West First Team, highlighting Boise State's 14 selections, the annual preseason magazine announced this week.

Thirteen student-athletes accounted for the Broncos' 14 spots on the list, as Stefan Cobbs earned nods at both wide receiver and punt returner. Boise State's 14 selections tied for the second-most in the conference, behind Fresno State (15).

Offensive linemen Ben Dooley and John Ojukwu, defensive lineman Scott Matlock, safety JL Skinner and kicker Jonah Dalmas received first-team honors.

Dooley and Ojukwu were the only Broncos who started every game on the offensive line last season. Dooley made his first-career start during the season opener at UCF (Sept. 2), while Ojukwu extended his streak to 29-consecutive starts on the offensive line.

Defensively, Matlock and Skinner achieved first-team status. The duo led Boise State in sacks (seven) and tackles (92), respectively, this past season, garnering All-MW Second Team accolades in 2021.

A Lou Groza Award Semifinalist, Dalmas made a school-record 26 field goals during the 2021 season, the second-most in MW history. He was the first Bronco placekicker to be named to the All-MW First Team since 2015.

Cobbs was named to the second team as a wide receiver, finishing second among Boise State receivers in yards receiving (421) and touchdowns (five) and tied for second in receptions (34) in 2021. The Fort Worth, Texas, native also picked up third-team honors as a punt returner.

Joining Cobbs on the second team were cornerback Caleb Biggers and linebacker Ezekiel Noa.

Biggers joined Boise State from Bowling Green in 2021, appearing in each of the Broncos' 12 games, making eight starts. He registered 34 tackles and five pass breakups, tied for the second-most on the team.

Noa recorded 66 tackles, including 6.5 for-loss, and three sacks last season. He also recovered two fumbles.

Four additional Broncos were recognized as third-team recipients, including quarterback Hank Bachmeier, offensive lineman Garrett Curran, running back George Holani and safety Tyreque Jones.

Defensive lineman Jackson Cravens rounded out Boise State's 14 selections, earning a spot on the fourth team.
