Boise, Idaho – Four Boise State women's golf student-athletes were named All-America Scholars, the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) announced Tuesday.
Fifth-year seniors Lexi Perry and Nicole Suppelsa earned their fifth-straight career honor, while sophomores Franca Polla and Hyeji (Emma) Yang were recognized for a second time.
The selection criteria for the WGCA All-America Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. Student-athletes must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.50 and have competed in 50 percent of the team's rounds during the 2021-22 season.
Perry was one of two Broncos to appear in each of the team's 10 tournaments this season, finishing her Boise State career ranked tied for third in career top-25 finishes (21), fourth in career scoring average (75.73), tied for fifth in individual low round (68) and tied for seventh in career top-10 finishes (six).
Suppelsa capped her Bronco tenure posting the ninth-best career scoring average in program history (77.58) and registering seven top-25 finishes and three top-10 finishes.
Polla joined Boise State from Portland State, appearing in nine tournaments in her debut season as a Bronco, notching four top-25 finishes, including two top-10 finishes. She earned runner-up honors at the Cowgirl Classic (April 4-5) with a three-round total of 215 (76-67-72; -1). Her second-round total was the lowest of any individual in the tournament and the fourth-lowest in school history.
The Portland, Ore., native was also the Broncos' top performer at the Mountain West Championships (April 19-20), finishing fifth with a three-round total of 219 (74-70-75; +3). It was the best finish by a Bronco since 2006 and the fourth-best finish all-time.
Yang played in five tournaments during the 2021-22 season. Her best effort of the season came at the season-opening Hobble Creek Fall Classic (Sept. 13-14) where she finished tied for 26th.
