What to Know Ahead of Friday's Game

BOISE, Idaho - Boise State football returns home to host San Diego State at Albertsons Stadium in its second Mountain West matchup of the season Friday. The Broncos (2-2, 1-0 MW) and the Aztecs (2-2, 0-0 MW) are slated to kick off at 6 p.m., and the game will be nationally televised on FS1. This week's game, sponsored by St. Luke's, will feature classic helmet logos, and fans are encouraged to wear blue. As part of a new tradition this season, the Blue Chaos flag raiser will be Doug Martin. A 2012 first-round NFL Draft pick, Martin ranks in the top 10 in seven offensive categories at Boise State and was selected to two Pro Bowls during his NFL career.
At the Sept. 17 home opener, Albertsons Stadium experienced the largest gross concessions revenue for a football event in venue history, resulting in long lines and unacceptable wait times. Headed into Friday's game, streamlining and improving efficiency at security checkpoints and concession stands are a key focus for athletics leadership. Boise State Athletics continues to collaborate with its security services contractor BEST Crowd Management and concessions partner Chartwells Higher Education to implement solutions that improve the fan experience.Â
Additional staff will be deployed in areas of high traffic and concourse congestion. Boise State Athletics is working with BEST Crowd Management to bring in additional staff from Las Vegas to improve the efficiency of gate entry times.
Boise State is planning for a capacity crowd Friday evening, and fans are encouraged to arrive early to avoid congested lines. Stadium entry express lanes, available to all fans free of charge, will be located at Gates A, D, E, N, P, and M. Permitted items for those entering express lanes include clear bags, clutches and fanny packs. To avoid bottleneck lines at prominent gate locations, suggested entry gates can be found on each fan's digital or printed ticket to improve chances for a quicker entrance.Â
Data suggests concession lines are longest during the second and third quarters. In accordance with a desire to provide a better fan experience, Boise State will also implement the following changes at Friday's game:
- Bottled water will now be available at every concession stand and kiosk throughout Albertsons Stadium.
- New stanchions will be pre-set on east and west concourses to streamline queuing lines.Â
- The highly successful addition of the Locals Corner will now expand its footprint by combining its point-of-sale availability with the Double R Ranch hamburger grill.
- 20% more food and beverage products have been preordered in preparation for continued record sales.Â
- Beverage kiosks will be added throughout the concourse.
- Dedicated staff members, marked in a precise uniform, will be positioned inside the concourse to wristband fans that are of age to purchase alcoholic beverages.Â
- The east stadium Double R Ranch grill will shift to a grab-and-go market similar to Locals Corner.
For future games, Boise State is currently purchasing water hydration stations to provide a quick and accessible experience to accommodate requests for water-only options. Updates will be provided in the coming weeks.Â
