
Lopez Captures Pair of MRGC Weekly Awards

LOGAN, Utah – For the second-consecutive week, Boise State gymnast Emily Lopez earned multiple Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference Specialist of the week awards. The junior collected accolades on both vault and beam for her performances against BYU (Jan. 20), the conference announced Monday.
Lopez has captured five MRGC Specialist of the Week awards through the first two meets of the season, including a pair on both vault and beam.
A native of Mission Viejo, Calif., Lopez was the individual champion on both apparatuses, recording a 9.850 on vault and a career-high 9.925 on beam. It marked her fourth-career victory on vault and second on beam. Additionally, her score on beam raised her season average to a 9.912, ranking her tied for fifth nationally.
Next, Boise State welcomes conference-foe Southern Utah to ExtraMile Arena for its home opener. The Broncos and the Thunderbirds will face off Friday, Jan. 27 at 7 p.m.
