LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The Boise State women's golf team fired the second-lowest 54-hole score in program history to finish fourth at the NMSU Golf Iconic Classic. The Broncos finished -3 with a score of 861, one stroke above the current school record set at the NMSU Aggie Invitational in 2014. Leia Chung paced the Broncos with a third-place finish, carding a 210 (-6) to tie her career-low. Franca Polla had a career-low score of 213 (-3) to tie for sixth-place.

"We went out this week and showed glimpses of what this group is capable of," said head coach Kailin Downs. "It was great to see Leia compete for her best finish as a Bronco and an awesome final round push from Franca for a top-10 finish."
"We came so close to some record-breaking performances this weekend," continued Downs. "I am confident this will propel us forward through the rest of this season."

NOTABLES

The Broncos finished with a team score of 861 (-3), just one stroke shy of tying the school record. Through 36 holes, the team stood at 575 (-1), the lowest two-round score in program history.
Boise State fired a 284 in the first round, the third-lowest round score in team history. In the final round, the Broncos tallied a 286, which ties for sixth in program history.
Leia Chung tied her career-low score of 210 (-6) and tied for third place, the highest individual finish of her career. This is the third-lowest 54-hole score in school history and marks her second career top-five finish.
Chung carded a 68 in the opening round, which ties her for sixth in school history for the lowest individual round score. The sophomore shot a 70 in the second round, giving her a two-round total of 138 that is second in school history.
Franca Polla fired a career-best 213 (-3), which ranks her sixth in school history. She tied for sixth-place, giving the senior four top-10 finishes in her career.
Teal Matsueda improved her score for the third-straight event, tallying a 217 (+1) to tie for 21st.
Also improving for the third-straight event was Hannah Lim, who carded a season-best 223 (+7). Jillian Hui replicated that score, tying her season-low from the Red Sky Classic. The pair tied for 49th, jumping 16 spots on the final day.
The Broncos averaged 2.97 strokes on par 3s, the best in the tournament. They totaled 47 birdies, the third-most at the event.
