Jeanty recognized Wednesday following a pair of honors on Tuesday

BOISE, Idaho – Boise State sophomore Ashton Jeanty was recognized by the Associated Press Wednesday, naming the Bronco tailback to its 2023 Midseason All-America First Team.

This marks the third such honor for Jeanty after ESPN and CBS Sports bestowed Midseason All-America First Team honors on Tuesday.

Jeanty is the only Group of 5 player to receive first team honors across all three teams and is one of just two Group of 5 players on the AP's first team, joined by Old Dominion linebacker Jason Henderson.

Listed under the position of all-purpose player, Jeanty is a dual threat as is among the national leaders in both rushing and receiving.

The Boise State tailback leads the nation in several statistical categories that are easy to see, including:
  • 90 total points scored
  • 12.9 points scored per game
  • 15 total touchdowns
  • 180.6 all-purpose yards per game
  • 66 first downs recorded

But the sophomore also leads the nation in multiple analytical statistical categories, including:
  • 604 yards after contact
  • 66 missed tackles caused
  • 430 yards after catch among non-wide receivers (fourth nationally including receivers)

Last week at Colorado State, Jeanty ran for a career-high 212 yards, topping the 205 yards he registered at San Diego State on Sept. 22. That makes him just the fourth running back at Boise State in the school's FBS era (since 1996) to have multiple 200-yard performances in the same season, joining other Bronco greats such as Jay Ajayi (2014), Alexander Mattison (2018) and Jeremy McNichols (2016).

Boise State and Jeanty have a bye this week before they return home to host Wyoming on Saturday, Oct. 28. The "Orange Out" game – with all fans encouraged to wear orange – will kickoff at 3:30 p.m. MT and will be televised nationally on FS2.
