AUGUSTA, Ga. – For the third time this season, the Augusta Sports Council announced Boise State punter James Ferguson-Reynolds as one of Ray's 8 by the Ray Guy Award.
Ray's 8 honors eight punters weekly who had the best punting performance over the weekend. A fan vote will determine the winner of the weekly award.
In Saturday's win over Wyoming, Ferguson-Reynolds punted three times for 156 yards, averaging 52.0 yards per punt. All three punts were downed inside the 10-yard line, including a 68-yard boot that was downed at the 3-yard line. This marked the sixth game this season he has averaged over 50.0 yards per punt. He has recorded a punt of 54 yards or longer in seven games this year.
A sophomore from Geelong, Australia, Ferguson-Reynolds leads the FBS with an average of 49.7 yards per punt. He was previously recognized on the Ray's 8 list on Sept. 5 and Sept. 12. On Oct. 9, he was named Mountain West Special Teams Player of the Week.
