BOISE, Idaho – The offense exploded for 32 points in the first half and the defense blanked its opponent in the second half for the third-straight home game as Boise State earned a 42-14 victory over New Mexico on Saturday.

The Broncos (5-5, 4-2 MW) had a lightning-fast opening drive, with Maddux Madsen hitting Austin Bolt in stride for a 42-yard score just 1:44 into the game. Boise State showcased another two-point conversion trick play, with Luke Vorhees receiving the snap laterally and running untouched into the end zone.

Both teams compiled lengthy drives to end the opening frame. The Lobos (3-7, 1-5 MW) covered 87 yards on 10 plays, scoring on a Jacory Croskey-Merritt 5-yard run. Boise State answered with a 72-yard drive, with George Holani running in from 10-yards out on the quarter's final play.

The next two drives were just the opposite, as the Lobos and Broncos traded touchdowns in a four-play span. UNM scored on a three-play drive, but Madsen found a wide-open Prince Strachan for a 74-yard score on Boise State's first play. A 19-yard Taylen Green rushing touchdown and a 22-yard Jonah Dalmas field goal put the finishing touches on Boise State's first half scoring frenzy.

Holani added a 1-yard rushing touchdown in the third quarter, then Dalmas tacked on a 44-yard field goal in the fourth quarter. The defense forced two punts, a missed goal, and a turnover on downs on New Mexico's final four drives, limiting the Lobos to 72 yards of offense. The Broncos collected three sacks in the final two quarters, solidifying another dominant second half on The Blue.
