GREENWOOD, Ind. - Boise State's volleyball team placed three members on the Academic All-District 7 Team as selected by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) -- formerly known as CoSIDA. This year's Boise State honorees recognized for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom are Paige Bartsch (junior from Helena, Mont.), Bella McGirr (sophomore from Novato, Calif.) and Noelani Helm (graduate student from Walla Walla, Wash.). Â
While this is the first time the CSC has recognized McGirr and Helm, it is the second-straight year for Bartsch on the all-district team.Â
Bartsch, a K-12 physical education and health major, is the 2023 Mountain West Co-Player of the Year and first-team All-MW. She started all 29 matches and led the conference in eight statistical categories, finishing the regular season ranked in the top 20 nationally in all eight.Â
McGirr, a biology major, played in all 29 contests for Boise State, splitting time between defensive specialist and libero. She tallied 284 digs and had a serve-receive percentage of .938.
Working on a Master of Athletic Leadership, Helm started at setter in all 29 matches. She recorded 936 assists, 110 kills, 35 blocks and 144.5 points. Helm ranked fourth in the MW for assists per set (8.91) and seventh in total assists.Â
The Academic All-District® Volleyball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes volleyball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Established in 1952 and selected by College Sports Communicators, Academic All-America is the longest-running and premier award for athletic and academic success across championship college sports at all NCAA levels, the NAIA, two-year colleges and Canadian institutions.
