Broncos Land Five on Academic All-District Team

BOISE, Idaho – Five Boise State football student-athletes were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, the CSC announced Tuesday. Michael Callahan, Ahmed Hassanein, DJ Schramm, Alexander Teubner and Zion Washington were recognized for their efforts on the gridiron and in the classroom.

Callahan maintained a 3.91 undergraduate GPA and is pursuing his Masters of Business Administration. This is the second-straight year he has earned Academic All-District honors. The redshirt senior appeared in all 14 games on the defensive line, totaling 19 tackles, 2.5 TFLs and one sack.

Hassanein, who boasts a 3.68 GPA in Interdisciplinary Studies, is also being recognized for the second-straight year. The junior was named first team All-MW and finished the season with 16.5 TFLs and 12.5 sacks, ranking second in the conference in both categories. He recorded a solo sack in eight consecutive games, tying the longest streak in the FBS since 2015.

Schramm holds a 3.52 GPA in Mechanical Engineering and is earning his first Academic All-District honor. The sixth year started 10 games at linebacker for the Broncos, registering 48 tackles and 4.0 TFLs. He had at least six tackles in each of Boise State's final four games, recording 2.5 TFLs and a solo sack in the Broncos' Nov. 18 win over Utah State.

Teubner recently obtained his undergraduate degree in Finance, registering a 3.79 GPA. This is his second Academic All-District honor. The safety was named Defensive MVP of the MW Championship and was selected Honorable Mention All-MW. He led the Broncos with 85 total tackles, including a team-high 50 solo tackles. In a Nov. 24 win over Air Force, he had 14 tackles, the most of any Bronco this season.

Washington is majoring in Business Administration and has a 3.58 GPA. The redshirt sophomore appeared in all 14 games for the Broncos, making three starts at safety. He made 32 tackles this season, including 2.5 TFLs. He had a season-high six tackles against North Dakota, which included his first career sack.

This marks the ninth-consecutive year Boise State has had multiple Academic All-District honorees and the fourth-straight year at least five student-athletes have been selected.
